Six Out of Twelve

Here comes June, the beginning of summer, the half of the year. Let us checking up on you guys, how are you doing so far?

Time had stopped since the first outbreak, as if we’re not living in a reality because the big wide world we used to know shrinked down to the size of our house and meetings through screen. Everything was on hold, as restriction to go out and travel, or even lock down began in so many places. It was a rough year for everyone. So, we collectively have a lot of wishes and expectations going into 2021, one of them is for the global pandemic to be over and we can leave the mask at home. We have plans to execute, places to visit and people to hug, we can’t wait until it is save to go back to the life before the virus spreaded. The big question is, will 2021 everything we hope and more?

Arriving to the 6th month of the year today, I can say that pandemic is far from over. We still have to be cautious about traveling and going to crowded places. But a lot of things has improved after more than a year in quarantine, especially after the vaccine gets distributed. Business starts to pick up its pace again, schools are doing limited classes, and we can go out to public places as long as following health protocols. Things are returning back little by little, one at the moment, but toward a good direction. As for me, I feel firmer to catch up to all of my pending plans. Half of the year had gone, but we still have 6 months to start warming up and getting back on our journey to pursue our dreams.

I’m standing here right now, looking back and thinking that the last 12 months should be considered as a ‘holiday’. Life before pandemic for me was non stop working, day in day out, rarely took a break. When the quarantine started, I had gained some free time because all the works were done at home. During ‘my holiday’, I got a lot of chances to reflect on my life, the plans I had for the future, and goals I set for myself. As frustrating as the quarantine could be, there’s no denying that it’s part of a process for us as human to be our better selves, to be more aware of our surrounding and what it needed from us as the occupant of the planet. If there’s one achievement I had during this pandemic, it would be growing more gentle and understanding toward myself and others. I know it’s nothing like getting a promotion like I planned before, but the ability to accept, forgive and let go things that didn’t go my term feels rewarding in its on way.

This pandemic may be a challenge for us, yet it also teaches us strength we never know we have inside. It’s not over, but we are optimistic we can overcome this together. We need to keep trying to do what we can during this limitation and pushing forward little by little, one at a moment.
