I’m so delighted to tell you that I’m officially an owner of latex bed! Buying latex bed has been a goal of mine, because I know I need this type of bed to ensure my comfort of sleeping at night. It’s been quite sometimes since I changed the bed and I’m loving it to the bits. In order to keep the bed long last, I do a little research on how to take a good care of my latex bed. Here are some tips I find:
- Flip and rotate
These actions ensure your body pressure to spread evenly throughout the mattress. You can flip the mattress so the underside now facing up, or rotating side of the mattress that previously at your head area to your foot area. It’s highly recommended to repeat these every six months. - Use a removable and washing machine friendly cover
One thing on my checklist before deciding on which latex mattress brand I bought was making sure it came with removable mattress cover. Having it easily remove means easier to wash or dry clean. By doing so, I can keep my mattress clean and smelling good all the time! - Avoid to expose your bed to direct sunlight
Whenever I wash my mattress cover, I always keep the mattress away from direct sunlight. That’s because latex can easily break down when exposed to direct sunlight, thus making its lifespan shorter. This won’t be an issue once the cover is back on. - Leave breathing space
I read a lot that latex is a breathable material, that being said, it’s better to prevent blocking the underside of the mattress with a flat base. Slatted base is a preferably choice, allowing air to circulate freely between the gaps. Your mattress also feels cooler at night because of improved flow of air!
Latex mattress is expected to have a long span of life. Even so, the tips above will definitely keep your mattress in its top shape throughout those years.
