Maximizing Limited Space

It’s so nice to finally having my own space to live! The size is probably not too big, but I’m free to arrange it the way I like. One of my way to celebrate this stage of my life is decorating it to be a comfortable resting place and accommodating my daily needs from work to pleasure. Here are several pointers I use as guideline during my journey:

1. Storages

When I lived with my parents, our problems mostly circled around messy rooms caused by a lot of our stuffs not having their own storage and ended up scattered on the floor. So this becomes my top priority when building my own home. I take note on my primary needs, calculate how to much space they will take and try to work it out with the actual space I have. I also try to forecast how I will grow as a person for at least 3 years ahead. I find it really helpful to have a little preparation for the future so I don’t have to change things dramatically around the house or move to a new space.

2. Custom Furniture

3. Big Window

Small space tends to give cramped vibe, and that’s when big window comes to the rescue. Having a lot of source of light will greatly improve a room to feel more refresh, airy and warmth.

4. Multipurpose Space

When you have a small or limited space, we need to be creative so our house can serve our need. In this case, I need a working space and work out space because I do a lot of those two things mostly at home. I end up designing my dinner table to also serve as working desk and place it by the window. I also pick a chair and a table that are foldable, so everytime I go working out, I can have more space by folding them up. Voila, 1 space that can accommodate 3 differents activities. The key is to figure out your habit and needs beforehand, and build a home based on that. That way, you will feel more content in your own home and also feel good about living there!
