Summer Activity at Home

1. Backyard picnic

Going picnic at the backyard of our house is as simple as throwing a blanket or carpet on the grass and bring out all the snacks we have at home. It is really enjoyable to do alone or with the whole family around 3 or 4 P.M., when the sun is low and the breeze is cooler. My personal favorite is reading book accompanied by cold soda. It is a refreshing activity to do in open air!

2. Private Pool

Swimming is the ultimate summer activity, whether going to the beach or at a public pool. Since we should stay home during this period, why don’t we make our own private pool using, none other than, plastic kiddie pool! This may sound silly, but friends, trust me, nothing beat the refreshing feeling once you go in the pool. The kids will love it, adult can join too. And if you want, you can do this everyday from the comfort of your home.

3. Gardening

Have you ever heard that taking care of plants can help you practice patience and make you feeling calm? I didn’t believe it at first. But ever since the beginning of pandemic, this has been one of my favorite activity to do. It’s similar with having a pet; you have to regularly feed it, check on it and make sure it grows healthy. There is a certain satisfaction when your plants grow a new bud or bloom, knowing that you help them in the process!

Gardening doesn’t necessarily mean owning a spacious yard. Lately there’s a trend to build your own garden in the balcony or a corner of your apartement. All you need to make sure is a good lightning and air circulation. Adjust your choice of plants according to your own ability and environment especially if you are a first timer like me. By doing so, you will enjoy the process more rather than being burdened with the responsibility. If you need more knowledge about it, go surf youtube cause there’s a lot of videos covering the tips and tricks.

4. Redecorate

Staying inside for a long period can be quite boring. It’s the same thing every day from your bedroom to the kitchen. Why don’t we try rearranging the room to give it a fresher look? We can try changing the couch position, move the working table by the window or paint the wall with the color that you currently like. No matter how small the change is, I guarantee it will make staying in more bearable! Use this chance to declutter things you no longer use or need. Having less means tidying less!

5. Home Barista

It’s sad that we can’t visit our favorite coffee shop or tea parlour for the moment. Sometimes I crave for my usual drink so much I end up trying to make it myself! At home! Thank God for the internet, I can easily find a good iced coffee recipe or how to make tea latte at home. At first it tastes nothing like cafe made. But over the time I get better and even experimenting my own recipe. How about you try creating your favorite cafe drink at home too?
