For those of you who have long hair, tying your hair is certainly a natural thing and feels cooler when your hair is neatly tied. Even though it’s cold, it turns out that there are times when your hair needs to be untied to grow healthier, for example, when your hair is wet and when you sleep. Tying hair tightly can cause Alopecia or commonly known as baldness symptoms.
Alopecia is a scalp disorder, where the amount of hair lost is more than the hair that grows. Normally human hair will fall out as much as 50-100 strands per day, if more than 100 strands per day you could be affected by Alopecia. Alopecia is divided into 3 types, Alopecia Areata is baldness in one area, Alopecia Totalis is baldness that is evenly distributed throughout the head, and Alopecia Areata Universalis is the loss of all hair on the body.
The factors and causes of Alopecia Areata also vary as discussed at the beginning about tying hair, although it sounds trivial to tie hair while sleeping to be one of the causes of Alopecia Areata occurring. Especially when we sleep, we rarely realize this, and our hair automatically becomes tied up for a long time. At first, it might be normal, if it’s done repeatedly it might start to feel uncomfortable and hair loss starts to occur

When the hair is tied under pressure from all directions, which not only causes hair loss but can also hurt the scalp and make it difficult for hair to grow back.
Especially when we sleep we are never really aware of how much we move during sleep and how tightly the hair tie pulls our hair. Many other alternatives can be done to keep hair neat while sleeping other than by tying it.
There are several ways you can do to keep your hair healthy and avoid hair loss. One of them by braiding loose hair does not need to be too tight, the use of a headband is also better than having to tie the hair tightly. From now on make it a habit to untangle your hair so that your hair can grow healthier and avoid baldness.
